Baseball writers may not send Don Mattingly or Mark McGwire to the Hall of Fame Wednesday, but when it comes to popularity in the marketplace, they are Topps, er, tops.
Of the 26 players who were on the ballot this year for Cooperstown, Mr. Mattingly and Mr. McGwire ranked far ahead in terms of player-related merchandise sold on eBay over the past 90 days. According to the auction Web site, Don Mattingly’s name was associated with $91,849 worth of baubles and bobbleheads sold, including an $800 Topps baseball card. Mark McGwire-related goods grossed $80,837. Andre Dawson was a distant third with $22,961 in sales. Read on at the WSJ.
